Here we are, the Davis clan. We're venturing out into the world, trying to follow God's lead. We hope you'll enjoy watching our family learn and grow.

Not so Mysterious...

God works in mysterious ways. That's what they say. Ryan and I are saving every penny so that we can have an enjoyable holiday season with our families this year. We have birthdays and travel plans...and have had prayers going up daily that we can be wise with our finances, allowing us to have a nice holiday season, preferably stress free.
I've been working for a family for the last few weeks. Turns out her husband works for the airline. Turns out, he has access to some super-discount airline tickets. Turns out, they offered to put our names on a stand-by list for our Christmas travel plans!!! Not only would this save us exponential amounts of money, but it would give us more time with family!
I see God working all around me and my family. He wants us to know that He is good. He loves us and is faithful. I was reminded on Wednesday morning at my Ladies Bible class that God was faithful to Abraham. He left his people and country and his father's house as God commanded him. He was in a foreign land for over 20 years with no more than a tent and clothes to his name. But he was faithful. Shortly after, God pointed him up to the stars in the sky. He promised Abraham that He would make his descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky. Sarah was old. Her body was WAY beyond fertility. We're talking a petrified uterus here...and God was faithful. He planted a seed and through that seed, we were given the Christ.
God is faithful. So when i'm shown love from friends around me, and giant gestures of kindness, I need to be quick to thank God for being faithful. And I need to be more quick to remember that even when the times seem tough and that there's no way things are going to work out, He will make a way. God has been faithful. He's given us another option in a seemingly optionless situation. Not so mysterious, is He?!

Our September...

Oh man...She's figured out how to stop him from running away too quickly!
gettin' beat with the ugly stick...

After the beating.

Ryan came home with these beautiful Mums for me a few nights ago! What a sweetie.

They're already friends. Ryan and I were talking in the car today about how they really truly like each other. We're so happy watching them make each other laugh!

Particle Collider

It's happened. Scientists from 80 different countries have come together and created a machine that has allowed a single atom to travel in a circle clockwise, faster than the speed of light. Shortly after this feat, the scientists sent an atom travelling counter-clockwise at the same speed, all captured digitally. The reason? In a "few months time", these men and women hope to send two atoms travelling faster than the speed of light, in opposite directions. The hypothesis is that if these two atoms collide, they will have simulated the "Big Bang Theory." The theory that matter was created by the mere accident of two atoms colliding.
Here's the funny part. These same scientists tell us that there is a particle within our universe sometimes called the, "God Particle", because it is believed to give mass to all other particles. They're trying to find it.
Clearly these people are trying to prove that life as we know it began when two atoms collided. Unfortunately, these people are missing the boat and the answer is staring them straight in the goggles. They've even named that missing part the God Particle! They're acknowleging but selfishly not admitting that God gives life, mass, meaning and purpose to life itself. Yet, they're still seeking control of this ever-illusive question of our beginning.
The US contributed 531 million dollars to this project over the years. I'm happy to announce that I can give you the answer for free from my Bible. About 10 dollars if you'd like your own.
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning-the first day." Gen 1:1-5
You see, God is in control. He has thought us and created us and our world and our atoms and our particles and our ideas and our minds and our hearts. I feel sad for all those who insist upon finding an answer that they can touch or prove or reproduce. I myself like an answer sometimes but we need to admit that God is huge and powerful and generous. Can't we just accept His gift of life by accepting that He did it?
What's taken these people years and years to simulate through a "garden hose" tube and digital camera set up took our Lord a spoken word.
And it was good.
Just my reaction to an article I read on yahoo today.
