We were coming home from church last night and Ryan was trying to distract the tired, cranky kiddos. He accelerated quickly so that the engine would would be loud. (Logan is really into, "BIG TRUCKS", right now.)
So as the engine started getting louder, this is how the conversation went:
Ryan, "Here we go!"
Logan, "Again, Daddy! Again, Daddy!"
Amy, "Ryan, you're going to get pulled over."
Ryan, "No, i'm still going the speed limit."
Logan, "Again, Daddy, Again!"
Amy, "Logan, you're such a boy!"
Leah, "Daddy, I think you're going to get pulled over."
Ryan, "Leah, you're such a girl."
So true!! So funny! It's so fun to watch our kiddos grow up, learn new words, like new things and dislike new things. I haven't written an update on the kids as they've changed over the last few months. I figured I'd write one now.
Leah is 45 months old! She'll be 4 in December. We can't believe it. She's getting so tall. Her hair is getting long. It's curly in the back like mine and blonde like Daddy's. Yesterday we tried on some pants before church and I've discovered she only has one pair that are long enough! Good thing fall comes late here in Dallas. She started AWANA 2 weeks ago at church. It's a Sunday evening program...they move around to different stations. They have a story station where they learn the story for the week. They also memorize scripture and earn patches for their snazzy vests. I get to work on them at home with her, so it makes for good constructive time for us to share. They also have a game station where they play with their classmates and their leaders. Last night she said they played an animal game. They also get a music and snack time. She loves it, Ryan and I love it because it's one more time during the week we get to be together learning. And we're confident that God is pleased with the learning that is being done too! While Leah is growing so much, she's already eating us out of house and home. Truly, i'm already having to revamp our grocery list because she honestly eats more than me! She still loves her books and will read quietly for up to 3 hours if she can't sleep during naptime. I'm so greatful to have a daughter. I've so enjoyed my relationship with my mom and look forward to sharing the same with Leah. I know that Ryan couldn't be more proud of his little girl. He has high expectations for her and is such a good Dad.
Logan, Logan, Logan. Where do I start. He is 21 months old. He'll be 2 in December. He is...how do I say this? Ok, stubborn. Strong willed. Difficult. For example. He just went to the bathroom. I'm trying to help him put his shorts back on and instead of letting me, he's standing here dancing in front of me, humming and smiling. Not being mean or disobedient, just teasing me. He definately has his fits, but what 2 year old doesn't, right? He's kind of picky with his food, doesn't really eat a lot these days. I think his molars are coming in soon. He smiles a lot and is snuggly most of the time. He gets lots of oooh's and ahhh's when we're out and about. It's hard to pass a kid that waves and says hello with big dimples, without commenting. As I said earlier, he's really into trucks and cars and motorcycles right now. I don't think Santa can come early enough this year with a race car track for him! He likes puzzles, likes identifying shapes and objects. He's really got a great vocabulary. He loves to learn new things, and help Daddy wash the car. Ryan told me yesterday that he actually does help him clean the car. Logan has the tire cleaning job. I'm so glad Ryan has a son to teach and pal around with. Logan is day-potty trained. I don't forsee the night times being dry for awhile, but 2 pull ups a day isn't bad considering he's not even 2 yet! I can handle a pull up at naptime and nighttime for sure. Plus, the little boy underwear are so stinkin cute on his little tooshie!!
Ryan's schedule is starting to sink in, and we're all adjusting. We miss him during the day, but it allows us to get back into our routine. I take the kids to Ladies class on Wednesday mornings and we all love that. I find that meeting with my ladies helps me greatly. I've also met a couple girls my age and it's nice to make some other friends that have kids the same age as ours. It helps us all know that we're not experiencing anything that the other's aren't too! I'm playing volleyball on Monday nights and that's also a great for me. Ryan is enjoying his dinners at home on Thursday and Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We make the most of that time together. We are already planning for our 2nd annual Thanksgiving trip out to the Davis Mountains in West Texas. It's truly an escape for us and we thrive out there as a family for the week that we're there.
So I guess that's us for now. Long entry, but it's been awhile. Hello to family and friends far away, hope this update keeps you feeling in the loop!
