Empty Tomb Cookies

Ryan and I decided to start a new tradition this year with our kids for Resurrection Sunday. We made these cookies together with the kids on Saturday night: http://www.food.com/recipe/empty-tomb-cookies-220621

All of the ingredients.

Jesus was beaten for our sins. John 19:1-3

Jesus was offered sour drink, (like vinegar) John 19:28-30

My sweet hubby, leading our family.

Is. 1:18 and John 3:1-3

The tomb is sealed. Mt. 27:65-66

Jesus is risen! The tomb is empty! Mt. 28:1-9

I tried to document the process and the results...basic idea? Ryan read through scriptures about Christs' arrest, crucifixion and resurrection. The steps in the recipe correlated with the verses. We preheated the oven, put the cookies inside, sealed the oven/tomb shut and went to bed. When the kids woke up the tomb was empty, seals broken and the cookies were gone! (Our cookies were supposed to be hollow but we didn't make them big enough, so they weren't very good.) But the kids totally got the concept and made a connection.
My favorite moments were as follows.
1) Watching Ryan read the scriptures to us and listening to him ask the kids questions and engage them in meaningful conversation.
2) Hearing the kids' responses to Ryan's questions. They know why Jesus died on the cross and they know what sin is.
3) I was getting ready when Logan came downstairs. He found me in the bathroom and told me, "Mommy! Our tomb is empty!" So precious.
