Ryan and I have been eating up the teaching we're getting at church. We've been working through Ephesians this year and have just finished up the portion on "Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right...", and the portion following, "Father's do not exasperate your children...". Part of my hearts desire has been to find another couple that has the same goals, and is fighting the good fight everyday within their marriage and with their children.
We had dinner last night with some new friends. They have an INCREDIBLE testimony and we have been so blessed by them. God knew that we needed some friends and I do believe we have found them!
We have friends at church with kids our age, striving for the same goals. But these new friends "get" us. They're working so hard to guard their own hearts by making big changes and boundaries for their hearts and for the hearts for their kids' hearts and we appreciate their example. They have 3 John 1:4 written in stone in their kitchen, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth."
And, they're hilaious, and open and their kids are respectful. Our kids are friends already and they even entertained themselves for about 2 hours while we adults chatted outside. Their kids also bug each other like ours do and they have to be reminded of the rules from time to time too. So it's nice to see other kids like ours in more ways than one.
Anyway, i'm just so moved at how God places people in our lives at just the right times. And i'm thankful to have some new friends that are leading their children as we try to lead ours, and to pray for each other along the way.
"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. "
3 John 1:4
